Container handling software provider Realtime Business Solutions (RBS) has recently secured orders for its TOPS terminal operating system (TOS) from two major greenfield facilities now under construction in Africa and Indonesia. The company has also expanded its EMEA team with the appointment of Nico Berx as Sales Manager and Dr. Leif Meier as Operation Optimization Expert.

Lomé Container Terminal (LCT), a joint venture between Terminal Investment Ltd (TIL) and China Merchants Holdings, is a new deep water 2.2 million TEU capacity facility being built in Togo. It will be the West African nation’s first container terminal and is expected to serve as a regional transhipment hub and gateway to Togo’s landlocked neighbours. LCT will install the full RBS TOPS system including all modules: TOPO, the foundation system; TOPX, the graphical planning and equipment control system; and the advanced TOPS KPI module.

Indonesian state-owned terminal operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero), (“Pelindo III”).has also selected RBS TOPS as its TOS for the new semi-automated Teluk Lamong container terminal now being developed in Surabaya.

RBS reports that it is also investigating the possibility of delivering more comprehensive IT set-up and delivery services together with German partner Akquinet, with particular focus on greenfield terminals. Plans now being laid would see the company offer the full scope of IT infrastructure and support to terminals, including planning, building and setup of datacenters. As a special approach for greenfield sites, this could include an intermediate datacentre housed in a container, which would function during the construction phase as a full datacentre onsite, allowing IT to be professionally prepared.
